Deputy Chief McKee, you stepped up to help in the aftermath of the worst act of terrorism to ever hit American soil, proving that you are a hero. Secondly, you showed that being a “campus cop” does not exempt you from duty, to the public or to your fellow law enforcement officers. For those acts, for that sacrifice, you are truly a hero.

Your family will always keep you alive in their hearts and minds and you will never truly be far from them, and I know in MY heart, you’ll always be there for them and for the CUNY. You may not be seen, but your presence will be felt.

God Bless you and may you rest in peace for all eternity, Brother

Heartfelt condolences to the surviving spouse, Chief and fellow Officers from City University of New York Department of Public Safety and all other brothers and sisters from local law enforcement agencies, those who lost loved ones on 9/11/2001, the good people who support law enforcement in New York City and those law abiding citizens of The State of New York, for all of you have all lost a national treasure.

Those who wear the Badge with pride, dignity and restraint will never forget you or the selfless sacrifice you freely gave on 9/11 and all the years which followed. Americans can never forget that day or since, nor should we.

Deputy Chief McKee should be entitled to the 9/11 heroes medal, as well. This heroes death was a direct result of that fateful day. I pray this entitlement is realized one day.

Rest in eternal peace, Deputy Chief McKee.
