Darren,

It was an honor to work beside you for the past 2 and a half years. You cared about the community you patrolled and did your job well. We are still at a loss for words as to why this happened, why your valuable life was stolen by an animal not worthy of your presence. Know we, your brothers in arms at the Harris County Sheriff's Office, as well as your extended law enforcement family, will continue on in honor of your faithful service. We will not let the evil which caused your death change our goals; to keep the good citizens safe from those who seek to hurt, steal, and kill. Your life mattered to a lot of people. Rest in Peace.

Adam Lightfoot, Sergeant
Harris County Sheriff's Office, District 5 Patrol
