August 29, 2015

My heartfelt condolences to your beloved wife and children, immediate and extended family, your brothers and sisters of the Michigan State Police and the local law enforcement community, those in your community and the law abiding citizens of the State of Michigan who have all lost a personal and national treasure.

Thank you for your service as a professional in The Thin Blue Line. It takes a very special person to be a law enforcement or criminal justice professional. Someone who places others first, believes in service before self and is commited to excellence in every endeavor. I appreciate your contribution.

A senseless tragedy. May you rest in eternal peace, Trooper Wolf.

My daughters have known Chad and his wife Erin since college. The younger of the two described Chad as "one of the best guys I have ever known", and she isn't a person who hands out compliments liberally or carelessly. As a Christian, I know the Lord will bring Erin and their children through this, but having lost my girls' mother, I know she has a long, hard road ahead. I hope his fellow troopers will look out for Chad's family. You lost a sterling officer in Trooper Wolf.

On my nights off and I tuck my son into bed, we say the following prayer: "God Bless all the policemen, firemen, and soldiers who keep us save. And Dear Jesus, if you should call one of them home tonight, give them eternal peace and grant their family the strength and courage to carry on. Amen."

We pray for Trooper Wolf and we pray that God gives all of his family--but especially his wife and four children--the strength to continue on. Their Daddy was a hero who went out everyday to help and keep safe all of us in Michigan.

Thank you for your service, Trooper Wolf.

It sounds like thunder far away, but the skies are blue and bright...
And soon they crest the hill nearby and ride into our sight.
They shake the ground with powerful sound and they make some hearts beat fast... They look so proud and noble, like Knights come from the past.

Side by side they always ride and seem to move as one...
From early in the morning light, to the setting of the sun.
Children point and wave to them from cars that pass them by...
The young ones ask their parents why the men have mirrors for eyes.

They ride the roads & fight for good, and defend small ones like you...
They ask to ride & do with pride, and sometimes they are few.
Like men of steel on silver wings, they sparkle in the light...
Then with a roar and rumble they ride out of our sight.

Sometimes when one has fallen, never to ride again...
You can hear the others calling, like thunder on the wind.
Side by side they slowly ride, and their thunder is a mournful sound...
And the mirrors hide their eyes from us when teardrops fall to ground.

So if you see one riding and you look into his face...
You see your reflection in his eyes, you'll know that you are safe.
For motormen are a special breed, they love to ride the wind...
And when you hear the thunder boom, the fallen ones ride again.
