As a former applicant to Hayward Police Department I had the opportunity to meet some of the officers within the agency. Though I never met Sergeant Lunger personally, I can say that from my experiences with those I came into contact with that HPD is a family and a strong one. I haven't met on any occasion finer examples of what Peace Officers should be. Sergeant Lunger gave his life serving the people of Hayward. May he rest in peace knowing that the rest of us in the law enforcement community will take it from here. Condolences to the Lunger family and HPD from Vicenza, Italy.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Sergeant Scott Lunger and the extended law enforcement family of the Hayward, California Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

I am so sorry for his lost. These Violent acts needs to stop!
We need to group together and have each others back on all things that are wrong/right. We all live, breathe, and die and will meet our Creator..what will you say when the judgement is handed down at your death..will it be Paradise or Hell for us..the Creator will make the decision for our acts here on earth of how we was to others and how much we loved the Creator to keep his Law.. "Not man ways and Law"..we will all face it in our end..Love one another!
