Sergeant Scott Lunger:

Thank you for your selfless service, dedication to duty, loyalty to the Hayward Police Department and the citizens of Hayward, California, and untimely sacrifice in the line-of-duty! "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God" Matthew 5:9. Let us now reflect on your life's accomplishments with family, friends, and colleagues rather than dwelling on the tragic way in which you were shot and killed in the line-of-duty. "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4. Now, you are in Heaven with Him! "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise." Luke 23:43. Rest easy Sergeant Lunger, we will take it from here! "Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:11. May the Lord Bless and Keep You Always My Brother in Blue!

You are safe now in the arms of Jesus and my prayers are for your family and friends. I hope that justice is swift and sure for this thug but unfortunately we know that he will sit on California's death row until his natural death! At least he cannot harm another LEO. Thank you for your service. God Bless and Godspeed Sgt. Scott Lunger.

YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR COMMUNITY A BETTER PLACE

And they would tell us:
"I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of that blue fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and hold that blue line. I will continue my watch from above."

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO US ALL.

The staff of the Silver State National Peace Officers Museum expresses our deepest sympathy to the Hayward PD family and to the family of Sergeant Lunger in this horrible time of loss. May you all find comfort in the great good that he did here on earth. His memory lives on in the history of law enforcement.
