Reflections for Police Officer Rick Lee Silva

Rick was a great man, not just a great officer. All who knew him liked him. He was very popular in the community sharing the "old cars" hobby with many others. When that roll call is called up yonder. Rick's name will be one of the first.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Revelation 21:3,4 reads "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." I pray God's promise of those that have passed away bring comfort to the family, friends, and colleagues of Officer Silva

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Rick died

To the Silva family, fellow officers, and all who call Rick beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Rick Silva gave to his community and the citizens of Washington, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on June 19, 2015

I will miss you Rick. We were in the same Academy class and with Lewis county.
Rode motorcycles together.
Remember when you put my pick-up back together after my then teenage daughter decided to rearrange its looks.
Thanks for the time we had together.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Police Officer Rick Silva and the extended law enforcement family of the Chehalis, Washington. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
