To a man I have never met and unfortunately learned a great deal about from reading reflections to him after his death. What a hero who lived his life well and treated everyone with respect and dignity. He will be greatly missed
I pray the ones he mentored to will carry on his legacy. May God Bless his soul, his family, his fellow officers and the great city of Cincinnati.

He was kind, compassionate, and above all else respectful to everyone he met. He stood by the Shotokan Dojo Kun: Seek Perfection of Character, Be Faithful, Endeavor, Respect Others, Refrain from violent Behavior. He held no prejudices, no hatred. He treated everyone with dignity, and was incredibly humble despite being world renown for his martial arts experience and his stellar police record. He motivated me and everyone else who studied under him to improve ourselves day in and day out, and brought out the best in everyone. He had a vigor for life that I've never seen the equal of, an easy smile, and a wonderfully dry wit that never ceased to make me laugh.

I saw him on Wednesday before he died. I remember he was talking about his job, and he said and I quote "when I put on my uniform, I don't see black, white, Latino, Asian... I just see people I want to help".

Rest in Peace, Sensei and Police Officer Sonny Kim, You were loved by many and missed by all.

Pedro Del Moral Lopez, No Rank.
Sensei Sonny Kim's Martial Arts pupil.
