WE HAVE HEARD IT BEFORE..."A PART OF AMERICA DIED TODAY..." THESE TWO WARRIORS, LEFT THIRE HOMES FOR THEIR SHIFT,KNOWING DEEP DOWN THE CHANCES THEY WOULD FACE...BUT STILL THEY WENT. THEY WENT BECAUSE THAT IS THE TYPE OF WARRIOR THEY ARE...IF NOT THEM, THEN WHO? THEY WENT SURELY NOT FOR THE PAY, THEY DID IT BECAUSE IT WAS IN THEIR BONES, IN THEIR SOULS, THEY KNEW THAT THEY WERE TRUELY THE THIN BLUE LINE THAT KEPT THE BEAST AT BAY. AND SO THEY WENT, TO SERVE AND PROTECT, GIVING THEIR LAST FULL MEASURE....FIDELIS ET MORTEM ...REST NOW OH NOBLE WARRIORS, YOUR BATTLE IS DONE AND YOU HAVE WON.

God leave your soul and your partners soul rest in a Herod peace. Even after 17 years of retirement I still get chocked up when I read about brave young officers dying at the hands of people who never contribute to our societies well being.

A portion of a letter written by President Abraham Lincoln, printed in the Boston Evening Transcript on November 25, 1864.

“I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic (he) died to save.
I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.
Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln”

It is with heavy heart to learn again of another Officer that has been murdered because of who or what he or she does. Peacemakers are human heroes with families. I feel the pain and my heart bleeds for the senseless loss.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate. They were fantastic individuals who will be greatly missed by the law enforcement community ad their families. I know this, because they were Police Officers dedicated to community service. Many of us take for granted the protection we as Police Officers provide, and at times are misunderstood. It was painful to learn of their death. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to your department and their families.

Prayers with the Deen and Tate family members and friends. Gone too soon. More respect and honor should be given to our police officers instead of permitting a few folks to use race as an excuse and then bash law officers.

For Officer Deen's fellow law personnel, as well as, his family, may each of you know of the Hope of the Resurrection. Please know that there are civilians who are proud of all LEO, and support the at all times. As volunteers with our local police department, we feel an affinity with each LEO, and feel like they are our sons and daughters. Each time there is a loss, we feel the loss, and wonder why, but we are comforted by the fact that each of them died doing what they do best - serve and protect!

Henrico County S.A.L.T./Triad Council
