"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

As a retired police officer from Colorado with relatives serving and retired from NYPD it was with great sadness to learn of this officers passing. It is with great dismay there is not one citizen protesting the cowardly way his life was taken from him.The only ones grieving his life are his family and that great blue line that extends through out our country. Most politicians are saying educate the police officers however never has it been said educate the public. My brother rest in peace another family has lost a protector of the people, God Bless You

May Lord be with you and family in this unbearable pain.It is obvious, your lost has created on all law enforcement officers a painful impact on each officer on the job as well as family, friends, neighborhood served and all police agencies which would take time to heal..
Po Moore it was unfortunate this happened to you, but your work efforts remained and meant a lot to everyone in NYC who has recognized your everyday work sacrifice to keep citizens of NYC safe

Eternal rest grant unto Brian Moore, O Lord; and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Death is nothing at all.
It does not count.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
Everything remains as it was.
The old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by the old familiar name.
Speak of me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no sorrow in your tone.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effort
Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was.
There is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner.
All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost.
One brief moment and all will be as it was before.
How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting, when we meet again.

Our thoughts and prayers to your family, friends and the entire law enforcement community.

You can rest easy now, we will take it from here......
