Reflections for Trooper Trevor John Casper

Rest in God's loving embrace, hero. You will never be forgotten

Retired Wisconsin L.E.O.

December 7, 2015

2 Timothy 3:1 states that we are living in "critical times". The times we live in are getting from bad to worse, especially with people having no regard for LEO's lives. Many people may not be aware of a direct command given by God at Romans 13:1 "let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God." I pray that the family, friends, and colleagues of Trooper Casper find comfort in God's promise found at John 5:28, 29 "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out."

Rest in Peace Trooper Casper. You live on in the loving hearts of your family and friends, and also with the countless numbers people who now know you as a true Hero of a degree so special in the war against evil.

I am a criminal justice professor and former police officer. This message is for Trooper Casper's family.

May God keep Trevor and bless all of you. He represented all that is good and noble and brave. Please know there are many of us who will never forget what he did. I will recount the story of his life and his heroic death to all of my students. He will not be forgotten, and his sacrifice will be celebrated in my classroom and with my own children, one of whom is a cadet at the United States Military Academy. Young people following in his footsteps will know of him and the incredible tenacity, bravery, and never quit spirit that he demonstrated for us all on March 24, 2015. Anyone seeking to become a police officer and to dedicate his life to something bigger than himself could do no better than to emulate the values lived by Trooper Casper.

Thank you for Trevor and for the example that he set for us all at the tragically young age of 21. I am so very sorry for your loss. I am so profoundly sorry for the loss to Wisconsin and the United States of America.

You had your whole life ahead of you. You choose to protect and serve what was close to you and decided on a career with higher calling. Thank you and sorry for your sacrifice. I myself have been in law enforcement for 4 years now, and I'm preparing to move my family to Wisconsin and pick up where I left off. I just wanted to pay my respects in this reflection, and take a moment of silence.

I've read and re-read, and re-read this tragic OMPD alert for the past five months. I still cannot wrap my head around the senselessness of it. It just brings tears to my eyes. I got by for 18 years without any serious injuries, and yet this young, vibrant trooper was not afforded the same luxury.
Thank you Trevor, for putting yourself in harm's way to prevent this maniac from killing anyone else.

My thoughts and prayers go to the family of this brave son, and also to his comrads who stand in harms way.
I am just a citizen from PA. who read today of many officers killed in the last year. I offer this quote as a remembrance.

"down these mean streets a man must go who is not himself mean, who is neither tarnished nor afraid. He is the HERO!
He is EVERYTHING!" Raymond Chandler (Author)

Their Devoted Spirits have Risen and are now carrying on their destinies up above in Heaven while awaiting to be rejoined in the distant future by the ones they love.
