I just found out about the tragic loss of Officer Alex Yazzie. Please accept my deepest sympathy to his family and his fellow officers. I attended the Navajo Code Talkers Days in August of 2014 as part of the Young Marines. As a fellow Marine I also know the honor and tradition Officer Alex Yazzie represented for his county. I met several officers from the Navajo Division of Public Safety and I was extremely impressed with their professionalism, honor and sense of duty as a Navajo Police Officer. Officer Alex Yazzie will be truely missed.

Oh my god! My husband and are in Lincoln City, Oregon, Siletz Country, watching the new NatGeo TV show, 'Desert Justice'.

We wanted to learn about the location and size of the Navajo Nation, and, while I'm watching Officer Yazzie on TV, I see your press release about his murder!

Many of my family members are military veterans; several also served in law enforcement. My parents raised us with knowledge of the many tribes in Oregon, Wasington, and Montana, where my mother grew up knowing Blackfoot peoples.

We are heartbroken about the loss of OfficerYazzie
and wish to pay our respects to the brave Officer and Marine and his family. Please send this to them. Thank you very much.

Its Monday Alex, I made our department contacts with all Navajo Nation Environmental Protection Agency-Criminal Officers this morning and all is Code-4. I remember your proud attention when receiving your badge at your graduation from the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Training Center and arriving early for duty the following Monday in 2002. Thank you for all your support, duties and motiving Navajo EPA-Criminal Enforcement Officers to take care of our Navajo country/Mother Earth. You had a unique responsibility with our department and you did it well before you left for Navajo Police. God Bless your children and your family.
