I didn't know Officer Yazzie, but I rode the LEU Road To Hope bicycle ride to DC this year. Officer Yazzie's name was added to the National Memorial for Fallen Officers. I am honored to ride for such a brave soul. He ran into danger for our brothers in blue. Thank You for your sacrifice, and courage in the face of evil. I pray for all those you Loved, and are left behind.

John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

While I did not know officer Yazzie, my family is the beneficiary of an Autism Medical Service Dog named in his honor from Service Dogs by Warren Retrievers [SDWR]. SDWR (www.sdwr.org) names all of its dogs after fallen officers and Officer Yazzie is one of many brave officers who have been nominated by his peers for this honor. Our dog, Yazzie, is a 14-month-old golden retriever. While still training to become a full-fledged autism service dog, he was placed with our family to assist our 4-year-old son, Ethan. Yazzie is trained to tether walk with Ethan and herd him should he become separated from his parents; to keep Ethan out of the street and away from danger. He is also there for tantrums, ready to give doggy hugs and kisses, even lay on Ethan's chest to apply core body pressure to calm Ethan down. And finally, Ethan wakes every 60-90 minutes at night. Unable to put himself back to sleep or "self soothe" we (my husband Ed and I) are forced to get out of bed to put him back to sleep again and again each night. We are utterly exhausted. The exhaustion has paid a toll on our marriage and ability to give our older daughter all she needs. By Yazzie sleeping with Ethan it is our hope that Ethan will roll over, hug Yazzie, and go back to sleep.

I know there can be no consolation for the loss of a loved one but I wanted you to know his memory lives on in us and a 14-month-old highly trained golden retriever named Yazzie. Just as officer Yazzie kept watch over his charge; so now does a dedicated service dog named in his honor.

While my son, age 10, did not have the privilege of knowing this officer, Officer Yazzie was assigned to him on his police week ODMP 5K bib. Joe ran for Ofc. Alex Yazzie today; after the race, we went to the National Museum of the American Indian. Thank you for your years of bravery and service to our country.

2 Timothy 3:1 states that we are living in "critical times". Like the suspect who took Officer's Yazzie's life, many don't follow the command given by God at Romans 13:1 "let every person be in subjection to the superior authorities, for there is no authority except by God; the existing authorities stand placed in their relative positions by God." Please accept my heartfelt condolences and I pray that Officer Yazzie's family, friends, and colleagues find comfort in God's promise recorded at Revelation 21:3,4 "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
