Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Lieutenant Richard Glenn Woods

You served your community for 20 years, sacrificing so that others could rest easy knowing you were keeping watch, ready to respond. Although I know you will still keep watch from your new home in heaven, we will take it down here. Rest in peace, brother.

An Officer’s Heart
By Kathy Farace

I chose to work in law enforcement;
It’s my duty and my call.
I will serve no matter what the risk
In a crisis great or small.

Protecting life and liberties
From jeopardy and from theat.
No matter what the time or cause,
I’ll respond with no regret

The thin blue line of courage is a symbol that reflects,
The depth of strength to conquer,
Fear our commitment and respect.

Duty calls, the race begins, days end is unbeknown.
Though focused on the work at hand
My heart is back at home.

As an officer I know I’m not in this alone.
You stand with me by my side and pray my safety home.

I give you this special gift a heart for us to share;
Holding precious words of love far days so hard to bear.

Every moment of every day, in my heart you’ll always be.
We’ll never be far apart……You have “A Piece of Me”

We Salute Our Fallen Brother

For I’m already being poured out like a drink offering,
And the time has come for my departure; I have fought
The good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness…2 Timothy 4:6-8.

The world and its desires pass away, but the man who does the will
Of God lives forever…1 John 2:17

Today we stand to salute our brothers’ departure from here
He’ll leave behind a family and those who hold him dear
In a career he served where all give some, yet he gave his all
He leaves this earth behind as he received his final call

The risks he faced on this final tour was one of a unique kind
His bravery surpassed his courage at last he leaves a world behind
Everyday he’ll be remembered for all the special things he did
He patrolled the streets as Gods chosen servant to him goodbye we bid

Don’t worry our brother in blue you’ll always be a part of our mind
We’ll always recall the bright face you bore one that’s so very kind
The hours you spent making a difference protecting all mankind
You stood your watch and kept the faith of one so hard to find

We Salute Our Fallen Brother for the impeccable job he done
You walked tall on duty with integrity second to no one
The beat you worked was like a battlefield in a society filled with change
Yet you never wavered in your commitment to a job that somehow was strange

The flag of our nation will not fly at half mast across the entire USA
But trust us dear brother with taped badges we honor you this way
A symbol of a fallen brother that graced our presence everyday
We’ll always salute the job you performed before you went away!

Richard was a great friend, whom I have known for several years through our hunting club. Richard was a great father to his son Jacob and a wonderful husband to Susan. I have so many good memories of Richard. I can recall when his son Jacob shot his first buck at age 7. Richard could not have been any more proud if he had shot a world record. He was a hard worker and a friend to everyone. No doubt he would risk his own life to save others. That is just the way he was. He was very proud on December 23 when he got his Lieutenant bars. He sent me a text photo that day to share with me. It was an honor that he shared it with me. Richard also loved his dad dearly. They spent a lot of time together. God bless you Susan, Jacob and the rest of your family. Please contact me if I can be of any assistance.
