Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Michael Lynn Starrett

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place.
As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say “it’s OK, you’re with your eternal partners.”
A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

I did not know officer, but my heart goes to him and to all others lost in line of duty. I found this page while writing article and my heart was overwhelmed with sorrow. My mother just died (Jan. 14), but she was 83. And here we have a young man, with loved ones and piers worrying what the day will bring. Tremendous lost for all. The lost life, and with this one the number of other lives are being harm and left in pain. The life that is lost due to the other causes than natural is more difficult to accept. 54 years old man, and the dangerous job in public service. The danger not in just facing criminal, but in pursuing or in attempting of giving assistance. I am deeply, deeply sorry.

Rest in Peace Brother One of the very dangerous things about law enforcement is driving. I was an officer for 31 years and every 8 years a drunk driver struck my cruiser. I had to retire eventually due to the injures. Our son is a deputy sheriff and recently well responding to assist another department was broadsided and finally returned to work after 6 months and has to see a surgeon for his neck. Rest in Peace Brother you gave the ultimate sacrifice.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Detective Mike Starrett and the extended law enforcement family of the Jacksboro, Tennessee Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
