Hey Unc, it's been 3 years and I'm just now writing this.. why, cause it's still hard to accept you're gone. You were not only my Uncle but my mentor and best friend as well.. I miss your tutelage and advice but most of all your friendship.. I still want to pick up the phone to talk to you about this job we both love so much.. It's been hard, more so than I want to admit. I love and miss you, you're in my thoughts everyday.. Tootles

Revelation 20:12, 13 reads "I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and scrolls were opened. But another scroll was opened; it is the scroll of life. The dead were judged out of those things written in the scrolls according to their deeds. And the sea gave up the dead in it, and death and the Grave gave up the dead in them, and they were judged individually according to their deeds".

Sgt. Mitchum served his community which is a good deed. Because of this, may the family and friends find comfort in God's promise for our dead loved ones.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Charles was killed.

To the Mitchum family, fellow officers, and all who call Charles beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned for you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Sgt. Mitchum gave to his community and the citizens of Alabama, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 26, 2015
