Reflections for Police Officer Charles Roger Kondek, Jr

They will read your name out loud this week in Washington DC. Along with all the other men and women who bravely protected the streets of this country. It still doesn't seem real. I know mommy welcomed you with open arms, as did grandma and grandpa. We miss you here brother. I love you. Until we meet again...

One of your many surviving siblings. Jen

As anyone reading this probably already believes, sacrifices made by those who serve are extremely under-appreciated by America's Citizens.

I am an Engineer who worked in DOD and private sector enterprises who never got the chance to serve in anyway. I graduated HS in 1975 and freinds coming back from VN convinced me college was the way to go, which I did.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you thank you for being on the front lines able to "go to the apartment complex at 2:00 AM" to respond. Am making a donation soon after typing this, THANK YOU

I worked with Charlie in the 34 pct(NYPD). It was horrible news to hear of your death especially right after Liu and Ramos. God grant that you may rest in peace. Condolences to your loved ones, watch over them from heaven.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Charles was killed.

To the Kondek family, fellow officers, and all who call Charles beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace. I hope that your family knows that a nation mourned with you.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Officer Kondek gave to his community and the citizens of Florida, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 21, 2014

I knew Charlie from grade school through high school. I have very fond memories of Charlie. He was always very kind, a gentle giant of a kid. I never heard him say a bad word about anybody. He was very funny and a solid athlete. I will treasure the memories of playing baseball, football, hockey and handball with him.
My deepest condolences to his wife, children and members of the Tarpon springs PD. Very sorry for this tragic and senseless loss.

R.I.P Officer Charlie Kondek., You Are In The Lords Hands Now. Thank You so much for your service, You maybe gone but you will never be forgotten. I will never forget what you have done to save my granddaughter and grandson 4 years ago when some man beat and robbed my daughter at gunpoint pushing my granddaughter in the streets in her stroller when she was just 1 month old flipping her over. You ran in front of the car to save her. You called me to tell me what had happened , you even sat and held my hand until my family was awake and stable. Thank you again for your service. you and your family will always be in my heart and prayers.

May God watch over and bless your wife and your six children. And may you rest now in eternal peace brother.

The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I knew this Officer...I lived in Dunedin and was spending the day in Tarpon Springs one day and went to a local pharmacy to get sunscreen. A man quickly stole my purse and ran off before I could even turn around. This officer showed up and gave me $20 out of his pocket and got me a taxi to take me home because I was so shook up. My heart goes out to his 6 children and the mother of these children and will do anything to have my story told so that this Officer will be shown as the kind and gentle person he was to insure my safety and to see that his community was safe. Please contact me if you can get my story told so he will be known for the Officer he was...A good officer who only wanted to do good for the community and go home safely to his family.

Being a Police Officer for over thirty five years It always pains me when we loose Good Officers. We live in a world where People have no respect for authority nor, them selves. We glorify violence through the sale of video games, we took prayer out of Schools, and we dont punish Criminals the way we should.

God Bless the Men and Women who are our first responders we are unique, and Gods chosen. May God be with us all. God bless Officer Kondek and his Family.
