Reflections for Detective Wenjian Liu

Officer Liu would bring prisoners to our Emergency Department at Long Island College Hospital. No matter the crime, manners of prisoner, or even names called by the prisoner, he always treated everyone with courtesy, respect and patience of a saint.
What a horrible, horrible loss of a kind, good soul. May God be with you and yours.

I am saddened for the families, the fellow officers, friends and neighbors and our nation for this terrible cowardly act of a demented murderous individual. We should all redouble our efforts to prevent these occurrences from happening again. Our police , our protectors, the persons on the front line, must be protected and warned of people who would do them harm. We are all responsible for the scourge of this disrespect of our peace officers and we must be vigilant and must act when we can to stop this violence.

So sad to lose a young man who served the great city of NYC in such an honorable way.May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in knowing that his life was a blessing to them and the rest of us New Yorkers who he served as a police officer.
His murderer was a coward for sure and it's quite pathetic that there are people in this world who have so little regard for life. God bless you all.

Our nation's law enforcement works hard to protect us. They are the backbone of our nation's defense against the lawless individuals, who try to take our freedoms away. It will continue to be the men and women in local law enforcement and emergency services, who will be protecting us. We must thank them for their continued vigilance. Without their sacrifice, we would less capable of protecting our nation, our faith in God and our family. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, and the members of the NYPD during this very difficult and tragic time.

God, filled with mercy, dwelling in the heavens' heights,
bring proper rest beneath the wings of your Lord,
amid the ranks of the holy and the pure,
illuminating like the brilliance of the skies the soul of Wenjian Liu who went to his eternal place of rest.
May You who are the source of mercy shelter him beneath Your wings eternally,
and bind his soul among the living, that he may rest in peace. And let us say: Amen.
