Officer Payne--I can see that you were a dedicated Officer to the Chandler Police Department as well as being a Sargeant with the Arizona National Guard and of course being a family man, you had to hold it all together the best you could. It is tagic that you lost your life during such an active time. You will be missed by all you served. May you rest in peace and protec your family and fellow Officers.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Officer Payne,

You have joined the Heavenly ranks of many who went before you who also chose to "Protect and Serve." Rest well in the arms of God.

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over three years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us to see beyond the grave.

When a police officer dies in line of duty protecting us from the criminals in our society my knees weaken my heart breaks and my prayers are for the family left without a husband and Dad who died "In the line of duty" knowing that the justice system will provide minor closure of loss.
However when a drunk driver used his vehicle to murder in cold blood without hesitation - I scream in anger that he suffer for the rest his life in an isolated cell and pay forever more. The sadness in my heart never ends and prayers for his family will continue forever. Alcohol in excess destroys lives and relationships daily. May justice and closure be swift and I pray that all the drunk drivers be arrested prior to the ultimate charge and the ultimate sadness they bring to our society.
