John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Sgt Garrett once asked me to help cover a shift on his squad. Being in narcotics I did not have a marked car so he found me one to borrow for the day. I was excited to earn the overtime and try and make a difference.

Two hours into the shift, I had wrecked the marked cruiser on accident. When I told him what I had done thinking I was about to get a butt chewing, he just started laughing.

Today, I participated in a charity bike ride called The Hero's ride to raise awareness/ funding for our Fallen Officers. I had SGT Garrett's name on my wristband. While I was riding 51 miles, I thought about him and his family, not knowing him, but there is a connection because my BIL and his son are both Police Officers. Thank you for your selfless service Sgt. Garrett. I am so grateful for all our men in blue that sacrifice so much.

Jeff was one of my subordinates in the Marine Corps, his attitude, and dedication to duty was exemplary. He dated, then married my daughter Angela. He was not only my brother in arms, he was my son-in-law. He and Angela gave my wife and I three beautiful grand children. I miss him, I will always remember our "Jeffro!" God Bless you Jeff, and Semper Fi!

Jeff reported to me in 1985, I was his fist Staff NCO in Charge in the Marine Corps. After reading his Service Record Book I knew his scores was going to make him a good Marine. Jeff was a relief, he made my job easy, he was an important asset to the daily operations of our Platoon. Jeff married my daughter in 1989, from that day he became my son. My wife and I loved Jeff very much. I will miss him, his quick with and humor. God bless him, and I praise God for bringing Jeff into my life.

Sergeant Garrett,

Rest well in the arms of the Lord.

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray:

“Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, family and loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for the past three years. Feel those prayers. God is with you; He knows and will ease your pain.

Our faith helps us see beyond the grave.
