Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Andrew Norris

My name is Sharon Wagner and I live in southern NH. My husband is a Captain in the State Police. I came across the photo of Michael on Facebook. My heart goes out to his family and friends. I appreciate his service and his courage. I hold an MS in molecular biology and I am not a particularly religious person nor do I believe in "ghosts" or much of what I can't see or touch. For some reason when I looked into his eyes I felt something. I felt him smiling. I felt him saying something to me. He was reaching out to me like he was joking. He wasn't being profound but instead telling me a joke and winking at me. I can't describe how I felt or why. I just wanted to put my emotions into words. I know he was just here and I don't say that lightly. So hey back at you Mike. God speed.

Mr. Michael Norris.

I am saddened by the news of your violent death, and especially empathetic for the loss suffered, and still so, by your family. I don't know how to assuage the grief of your family, however I do know one thing ... You share the 'Highest Plane' with the Creator. Your family's grief is personally felt by a family who has known this level of tragedy.

May God Speed His Infinite Mercy to your bereaved family.

I remember Michael fondly. He was a fun-filled guy and a people person. Although I never had the pleasure of teaching him, Michael would come by my classroom everyday to speak with me. He was an exceptional young man, and I will always remember his kindness and the way he got along well with administrators, teachers, students, and other staff members. He never met a stranger. May he rest in peace, and may his family take solace in the fact that he was everything any parent could ever wish for in a child.

My condolences go out to the Norris family. I can relate, my cousin (Michael) passed away a year ago at the age of 23 from a motorcycle accident, he was pronounced brain dead and was kept on life support for five days and donated his organs to save the lives of others. Deputy Sheriff Michael Norris will never be forgotten and his legacy will live on through the people he saved.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Michael was killed.

To the Norris family, fellow deputies, and all who call Michael beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Deputy Norris gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 13, 2014.
