Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Andrew Norris

Today is our 8 year EOW anniversary. Life has been a roller coaster ride since 9/14/14. We've been blessed with a great department, fellow officers, a great community, great friends and family since that dreadful day. Our prayers are with all our new member families. May your days be blessed with those surrounding you forever.

May God bless each of you,

Deputy Norris was in my POST Academy class. I had lunch with him one time during our break from the class room during training. He always had an awesome attitude in the class room and his motivation was contagious and infectious. His drive was unlike any other and you just knew he would make a great Deputy. He motivated others just like we were taught in training and he was a leader with a warrior mindset. Everyday I go to work with his funeral service program laminated hanging above me in my patrol car as a reminder that he made the ultimate sacrifice. I know he is riding shotgun with me and all of the officers and deputies that he made an impact on. Representing SESSION # 24 GPSTC. Forsyth, GA.

I just attended the first Police Unity Tour, and was honored to meet your Mother, Father, Grandmother, Grandfather, Aunt, and your funny Uncle, and so important, your cute little partner. Unfortunately, I was not able to meet you wife, but I would have loved to. Your Uncle saw my shirt (Georgia) and came up to me. What an honor it was for him to do that because I was able to give my condolences to your family. I saw the beautiful picture of you on their chest as they all wore it so proudly, and another shirt your Aunt and Uncle wore so proudly. I know you are loved, and will never ever be forgotten for not only the love your family has for you, but for your braveness, courage, and love for helping others. You are definitely a Hero and I am sure in heaven too. I don't know you, but meeting your family made me feel as thought I was a part of your celebration on this most wonderful, awesome, and tearful day. My brother's name is Michael, and what a beautiful and meaningful name. I feel I know you, and know I will always remember you. REST IN PEACE..

Michael,

I also have the honor in riding for you in the Law Enforcement United Tour beginning in Chesapeake Virginia. I wish I did not have to ride for you because that means you were taken from this Earth, but you are a hero and heroes live forever. You will forever be remembered in my mind and on everyones mind as we ride for you and all of our fallen brothers.

Michael,
Another brother in blue was ambushed this month in Georgia. It brought back so many memories of you from just 6 months ago. We will all go as a family to honor you and the others in Washington DC in May. I know you will be amongst us as we travel and during the week.
I'll always love you,

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 — Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. RIP Deputy Sheriff Michael Norris. His funeral visitation was incredible. There were literally thousands of people that showed up to show their appreciation and respect for his sacrifice. Myself and my wife waited in line for around 3 1/2 hours until we got to his casket and spoke briefly with his family. The Monroe County community as well as a multitude of others never ceased to show and give their support to Dep. Norris' wife and family. He will be truly missed by his co-workers and friends.

I did not know you, but I have utmost respect for you and all our police officers nationwide. I was a personal friend of Officer Howard Dallies , who like you, paid the ultimate price. I will be keeping your family and Monroe County Sheriff Dept. in prayer for peace and comfort. Thank you Lord, that even though you are calling him home, he is generous and thoughtful enough to share his life with others, even when he has left this earth.Lord, have mercy on our law enforcers during this very difficult time.Protect them and keep the safe in Jesus Name. Thank you for your service Sheriff Deputy Michael Norris.
