Constable Doane AKA Grandpa,

Oh how I wished I could have met you but it wasn’t meant to be. I only know of you by a picture, but in my heart you still live. I am proud of you for your service to protect and the sacrifice that you made. I’ll love you forever. Gone but never forgotten!

We can only truly honor our heroes of the present by never forgetting our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 74th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered
