Igor was a first generation refuge from Bosnia like I am. He became a cop two months before I did. I never knew Igor but I know we would have been friends for sure! RIP brother and we'll take it from here. I am more affraid of good men doing nothing then I am of death and I am sure you felt the same way.

For Police Officers Igor Soldo & Alyn Beck:

Our duty as law-officers is fraught with the mundane as we go about our duty in service to the public. Stopping to have a meal is all part of the day, and sometimes near to one or more individuals who dislike our laws - and law-officers. Occasionally, experience has proven, the worst among us chose to blitz-attack law-officers to ensure survival - only later to destroy themselves in an uncomplicated suicidal confrontation with other law-officers. It is a veritable coward's way to die. Lamentably, this brainless and imbecilic act will be repeated by yet others anxious to make a reservation in hell.
We regret that Igor and Alyn would be the next law-officers to die at the hands of those who had nothing to contribute to society but anguish, suffering and grief to others around them - including their very own families.
We pray for Igor's and Alyn's families, friends, co-workers, and all who care about them. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We also thankful for the brave law-officers who responded to end this carnage, and the courageous citizen who confronted these killers and lost his life - a hero that we honor.
Finally, we are proud to render Officers Igor Saldo and Alyn Beck, soldiers-of-the-law, a final salute.

A portion of a letter written by President Abraham Lincoln, printed in the Boston Evening Transcript on November 25, 1864.

“I feel how weak and fruitless must be any word of mine which should attempt to beguile you from the grief of a loss so overwhelming. But I cannot refrain from tendering you the consolation that may be found in the thanks of the Republic (he) died to save.

I pray that our Heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

Yours, very sincerely and respectfully,
A. Lincoln”

My tears are my words.
Why are we here again?
Dear Almighty God.

Our loved ones are saddened when they look
down and see us sad. This I know.
The love shared that is timeless and remains felt;
like their eternal touch on our arm; is envied by those that have never felt and may never feel, that kind of love.

Respect and prayers for strength.
You are not alone.

I will always wonder if you and your colleague were part of the officers who directed us as I drove my teams support van for Baker-to-Vegas this year. I had a wonderful conversation with your colleagues at the McCarran Airport when I was leaving after the event. Metro PD is a premier organization and my sympathies go to all you loved you - family, friends, and colleagues. Your memories will be a blessing unlike the cowards who attacked you that day.
