Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Patrick Scott Johnson

Whatever our duty, or wherever we serve, we are all brothers and sisters in this most honorable calling. We have lost yet another brother who we must never forget.

My deepest sympathy to both his family and his law enforcement family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. May he and his brother Trooper Rich rest in eternal peace.

To think that we honoured our Native American Law Enforcement personnel killed in the line of duty in Indian Country only yesterday (May 1st). A law enforcement officer should always be remembered not by the way he died, but how he lived! One of our Peacekeepers has moved on to his next journey to ensure that we all have a safe path to follow. Thank you very much to you, your family and the Alaska State Troopers. Our community and the country is now a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother………

We mourn the loss of this honorable man, our brother in the law enforcement family. He made this world better not by sitting back and complaining, but by the deeds he performed, the kind words he spoke, the lessons that he taught, and the example that he was. May his soul rest in peace with God. Thank you, Sergeant Johnson, for your service and sacrifice.

May God bless the family.......I understand what we sign up for.......but I can not help but get angry when I read this......a man wants to help his community or state........tries his best to enforce the law......and he gives his life because some crazy gets hold of a gun......these men are heros.........I pray the suspect knows what he took from these men and their families.......Lt. It takes a special person to become a State Trooper, but it takes a Very dedicated
person to become an Alaskan State Trooper.
Two very good men were taken too early, their mission cut short.
They took each and every day as a new challenge,
and gave the respect they deserved.
Each person they met, each brother and sister they helped were all treated the same.
As roll call is made for these two fallen Troopers do not hang your head, hold it high.
For THEY will want you to carry on the tradition you, as an Police Officer,
Constable, Sheriff or State Trooper has taken an oath for.
God Speed Troopers, Rest In Peace.

We are eternally indebted to our brother officers, Trooper Rich & Sgt. Johnson who have sacrificed their lives in the performance of their duties. Give to their loved ones the peace and strength to bear the anguish of their loss.

It is not the wealth and riches we have accumulated, that make us great, but what we have given of ourselves. These Troopers were truly great people.

Sergeant Patrick Scott Johnson,

When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some years ago you became blessed:

For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV

When you responded to that man brandishing a firearm call on Thursday, May 1, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV

As a result, you and Tropper Gabriel Rich confronted the suspect in his home and were both shot sacrificing your lives so that others might live and be protected:

And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV

I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV

Now go! Rise up! And do battle against evil as an angel for the Lord!

In God's merciful love,

Pastor Steven R. Closs
Retired Captain of Police, Nashua Police Department, Nashua, NH
