Police Officer Dennis Guerra,

When you made your decision to enter law enforcement some eight years ago you became blessed:

For the Lord said, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9 ESV

When you responded to that working fire call, which turned out to be arson, on Sunday, April 6, 2014, you answered God's call to serve:

And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." Isaiah 6:8 ESV

As a result, you suffered from smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning. You sacrificed your life three days later so that others might live and be protected:

And the Lord said, "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 ESV

I, along with your family, friends and comrades, will mourn your sacrifice and loss in the line of duty:

"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4 ESV

Now go! Rise up! And do battle against evil as an angel for the Lord!

In God's merciful love,

Pastor Steven R. Closs
Retired Captain of Police, Nashua Police Department, Nashua, NH

Officer Guerra, you and your partner did a crazy yet heroic thing by going up there. How sad that your lives were taken by the insane act of a 16 year old. He ruined his life, brought shame and sadness to his family, nearly killed your partner and worst of all, did kill you.

The void that has been cause by your death cannot ever be filled. I know however you will always be there for your wife and children and no matter how much time passes, they will always feel your presence.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.

My prayers also go out to your partner for a quick and total recovery.
