Constable Chastain, it was my honor to research and nominate you to both the IL and National Memorials. I grew up just a block from where you were slain. My father was years later an Ullin Police Chief, but at that point your story had been lost in history. But your sacrifice is now forever recognized. If someone in your family would like more information, they can contact me at [email protected].

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 103rd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace
