Officer Baker worked the same shift I do here in Maine and we refer to it as the Late Outs shift, so it really made me think of her and say a silent prayer in memory of her honor/ duty.
I hope we all take something positive away from this tragedy. We always assume we are going home after our shift as a given and I never thought in a million years one night I may not come home to my daughter and wife, but the truth is- it is a possibility every single day.
My heart goes out to Officer Baker and her loved ones, particularly her son that really needs a good mom. God Bless this wonderful mom that had sacrificed so much for her son. And I pray for her 15 month old son.

Peace be with you.

For Corrections Officer Amanda Baker:

The law-officer and the corrections-officer place themselves at risk each day for the sole purpose of the safety, protection and welfare of others. We regret that Amanda would be the next CO to die at the hands of a very young, but so dangerous a person and who is such a deadly threat to others. Amanda's courage and service is unsurpassed by all of who place ourselves as our nations soldiers-of-the-law.
We pray for Amanda's family, friends, co-workers, and all who care about her.
We proudly render CO Amanda Baker a final salute.
