God Bless Sergeant Wride's Family, friends, and fellow Officers. My Hearts breaks every time we lose a "Special Person", such as Sergeant Wride. When I heard of this tonight, it was like I knew him, totally shocked and hurt. All members of Law Enforcement (including K-9's) are so wonderful, They give their life's for us. I'm so sad!!! Please know that he's ok. and still watching over all of this, because that is what he was so proud to be doing.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Words are difficult to come by during this time, understanding even more. It is with profound sadness I offer these thoughts to the family and friends of this fine officer. Please know you have people praying for you all across this Nation, and holding you in their hearts as you come through this.
Anyone who puts on the uniform of a Police Officer has already been recognized as a cut above the rest.
Rest in Peace Sergeant Wride.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Utah County Sheriff's Office. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother.

Having worked nothing but urban law enforcement, I often wondered what it's like being a cop in the beautiful open county in our United States of America. But there is no solitude from cop killers. They strike anywhere. RIP Deputy. Your work was honorable, noble and appreciated by the people you served. Your brothers and sisters in arms will not let your memory be forgotten.
