Reflections for Police Officer Robert Carey Deckard, Jr.

To the Men and Women of the San Antonio Police Department:

My thoughts and prayers go out to your entire department. May God Bless you all and keep you close to him during this horrible time. This kind of news has become too common and it crushes me every time I hear a Brother or Sister Officer go down at the hand of a "Person" who has no regard for human life. I hope your local District Attorney sends a CLEAR message and honors our Fallen Brother's commitment to fighting crime even in the face of danger. Never EVER forget.

Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten! I pray that your family will find strength and comfort through the very difficult days that lay ahead. Unfortunately, I know too well the pain that your fellow officers are also going through and they will be in our thoughts and prayers as well. Rest in Peace and continue to watch over those whom you left behind until they join you once again.

We share the grief of Officer Deckard's family, friends, co-workers and community. It is just incomprehensible to accept Officer Deckard's death-but that is what we are left with. Know that you are not alone in your sorrow and pain...there are many others who surround you. Our hope and wish is that you can get through these difficult days knowing we are with you...and that Robert's spirit and life still prevails in you and now in others. God bless the Deckard family.
