We at Texoma Community Center (the public mental health and intellectual disabilities center) are devastated at hearing the news of Chief Fleming's passing. He was a level-headed individual that always sought the best solutions possible for everyone in difficult situations. He was easily approachable and had a clear understanding of our mutual dependence as we have sought to serve people in our communities. We grieve; for his family, friends, fellow officers, and ourselves; with the deeply saddening news. We have lost genuinely respectable public servant who will be missed.

Tony Maddox, Executive Director
Texoma Community Center

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the wife and daughter of police Chief Steven Fleming for their loss. Twenty two years ago, this man put on a badge and uniform and swore an oath to protect and defend his community. He served in many capacities, eventually reaching the pinnacle of his career. I did not have the pleasure of knowing Chief Fleming, but for some reason! I could imagine him saying, "Please... let me get that evidence for you."

The people of Gainesville, Texas should be proud to have a man, who every day for 22 years, put himself, and the fine officers who eventually worked under his direction, in harms way. Rest in Peace Chief Fleming, your courageous career is now over. Thank you for your service. I salute you and God bless.

Dis. Retired PO Bob Stark
