Today, I retire after 30 years service in the police service in the UK. I am fortunate to have my family and to have a future.
Jason gave his life in the service of his community and his nation. His loss is, to those that knew him, terrible. The loss to his family is incalculable.
However, I am sure that the pride and love of his family in his life and work will comfort them, if not immediately now, then into the future. His police department and friends will I am certain, as we always do, offer the closest of support and care..
My kindest thoughts to the family.

He was a hero! If he hadn't brought them down, they would of taken out others. He served his country in the Corps and his community as a peace officer.
I can only hope that the suspects get the death penalty. If you are going to shot at a peace officer then you would not think twice about shooting me.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Divine Power of God -
cast into hell, satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls.

RIP Brother

I AM A WARRIOR
by Jon F. Hooper

I stand with God. I fight not for glory or fame,
For they are momentary.
I fight for those who can't.
I fight for Justice.
I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden.
And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets,
For I serve to protect the innocent.
It matters not where or when,
For evil knows no boundaries.
Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny,
I will not flee.
Justice is my weapon.
Faith is my shield.
Hope is my armor.
Cry not at my passing,
For it was my Honor to fight for you.
Shed not tears of sorrow,
But tears of joy,
For now,
I stand with God.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO! May God
Give the family and friends the strength and faith to deal with this tragic loss. Words can not express my sorrow!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

For Police Officer Jason Schneider:

The duties of the law-officer, on any day, can carry him or her into a situation that might take his or her life. No amount of preparation can truly reduce this risk to zero. Permitting a suspect the opportunity to take the first step toward aggression is a concomitant of our job. Take action too soon and the officer is the aggressor, and sadly, not soon enough can be deadly. In this case, our brother Jason was regretfully slain, but I believe his determination to stop the action of his killer is beyond my ability to describe how much I admire his skill and courage under fire. He is a remarkable and noble crime fighter, and an illustrious and everlasting hero. His memory should perpetuated in the halls of the Baltimore County Police Academy, in in the minds of every cop who strives to be great among our own.
We pray for Jason's family, friends, co-workers, and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render to Officer Jason Schneider, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.
