On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Trooper Winston Martindale and the extended law enforcement family of the New York State Police. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.

Our deepest condolences to the Martindale family. I had a chance to speak to trooper Martindale a few months back as he was a patient of my wife's at the hospital that he wasatmitted to. Though I'd only known him for a short period, he appeard to be a honorable individual who loved nothing more than serving his family, his country, and the wonderful state of New York. May he rest in peace and his memories live on forever. You'll be truly missed sir!

To Ms. Martindale, your husband loved you and his family very much. He tried his very best to provide for his family, and at the same time provide for his country and community by serving and protecting this Great Nation. Winston was a good man with good moral values, who did not fear dangerous situations, nor did he distance himself from standing up and telling the truth. Winston will be missed.

To Winston parents: You have taught your son well, he was indeed a MAN who stood for truth. Your son Loved being a Law Enforcement Officer, he loved being a New York State Trooper, and he gave his life doing what he Loved; serving and protecting the people of the State of New York. Please find comfort in knowing your son Winston loved being a New York State Trooper.

I also want to extend my condolences to all of Winston's brothers and sisters he worked with in Troop "F", as well as to Superintendent Joseph D'Amico, First Sergeant Ralph Potts and to the entire Troop "F" Administration. May God be with you all.

Trooper Martindale,

You have joined the ranks of God's chosen ones who were appointed to protect the rest of us, now receiving the rewards of Heaven. Rest well.

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are Your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with Your angels, loving family, friends, neighbors and caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name and for Your Glory, Amen.”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for over two years. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
