John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Deputy Key weighs heavy on my heart - I am a LEO wife but also run my counseling practice and mustang rescue at the intersection where he was killed. We purchased the land a few months after it happened and when we heard about his death we knew that was right where we were meant to be. I've wanted to dedicate one of our rescues in his honor, and today of all days I decided to help a young mustang and name him Deputy... when I realized that this was the anniversary of his death I knew it was the right time. I never had a chance to meet Deputy Key but think of him as I regularly pass through his stretch of highway.

Hey brother, it has been a while but you are still missed every day! We are coming up on 4 years since our lives were changed forever, that night still haunts us but you have found ways to remind us of the better memories to overcome the sense of loss. God really does want us to have great days, he put you in our lives and gave us reasons to always remember you.
The job is what made us family but it is also what made you a hero and an inspiration for all of us. Your smile is still contagious!
Continue to show us you are watching over us and keep us smiling!

Hey brother, I've thought about you a lot lately more than just once a day. A friend of mine asked me about you after seeing your funeral pamphlet on my desk. I explained to them who you were and even though it's been over 2 years I immediately began to smile thinking of the first time I met you and tears soon followed thinking about the call that changed my life. It's amazing how great God is, he put you in our lives for a reason and I thank God that he chose me to be one of the many that call you a friend and a brother. I pray that I can have at least a half of the impact you had in my life in other's because you truly were a blessing to know.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers." Galatians 6:9-10

Monday 04/20/15 will be the 2nd anniversary of Chad's Final E.O.W.
Tomorrow, 04/18/15, they are holding the 1st Annual Chad C. Key 5K Memorial Run in Denison, TX. We miss Chad everyday, but at this time it really comes home. As a former officer, I've lost my best friend, David W. Roberts, Paris TX P.D. and then my Son-In-Law, Chad C. Key, along with a few others that I knew personally. My family prays for each of their families and hope they find comfort in the love and support that comes from all us who are in this together day by day. Look to God for your strength, He's the only one who can grant it.

I worked with Chad in the jail, and cheered him on when he went to patrol. During my 30 year career with the Sheriff's Office, I have met many people that have impacted my career, but few my life. Chad was one. A quiet, reserved and determined man. Proud of who he was, and where he was going. We lost a good man that dreadful night. Rest In Peace Brother, we miss you still today.

I just read the article in the Dallas Morning News and am VERY thankful the jury sentenced him to 141 years. I hope this gives some closure and relief to his family, friends, and co-workers. Please remember that Chad will FOREVER be a hero and will NEVER be forgotten!

Too bad he didn't get that sentence on the previous DUI!! Chad would still be here w/his loved ones & fellow officers today! SO much more needs to be done w/our habitual DUI drivers than our current system addresses!! Keep on top of this sentence folks, so they do NOT release him well before his minimum 30 yrs - cause they WILL try!!

I took time this morning to sit down and actually read eveyone's post. I grew up with Chad in Sherman. We went to school together from elementary thru high school. Though our paths took us in different directions we came back together when you came to asking for advice on going into law enforcement. I gave you what I though was a good career decision. You made the best choice for you and your family. The choices a man made that night cost me a friend and a bother in law. I will always call you a brother.

CHAD, IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS AND I CAN'T BEGIN TO EXPLAIN HOW I MISS YOU. THERE IS NOT A DAY THAT GOES BY THAT I AM NOT REMINDED OF HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT YOU HAD ON ME IN THE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME I KNEW YOU. EVERYTIME I AM HAVING A HARD TIME BEING MOTIVATED OR I BECOME A LITTLE JADED OR UN-MOTIVATED I REMEMBER HOW HARD YOU WORKED AND HOW YOU WERE ALWAYS SMILING. YOU WERE A GENTLE GIANT THAT WAS AN INSPIRATION FOR MORE PEOPLE THAN YOU REALIZED DURING YOUR TIME WITH US. THERE IS SO MUCH THAT I WISH I COULD SAY TO YOU AND I WISH I COULD. I GOT TO LOOKING AT SOME MESSAGES THAT WE SENT BEFORE YOU LEFT US AND IT REMINDED ME OF HOW MUCH YOU DESERVED YOUR PLACE IN OUR FAMILY OF BLUE. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE REMEMBERED AND RESPECTED BY ALL WHO KNOW THE MAN YOU STRIVED TO BE BECAUSE YOU MAKE US ALL WANT TO BE A BETTER PERSON. YOU ARE A GUARDIAN ANGEL FOR ALL US NOW AND I CAN SAY THAT KNOWING YOU ARE WATCHING OVER ME MAKES EVERYDAY A LITTLE EASIER. MERRY CHRISTMAS BROTHER AND LOVE YA!
