John 5:28, 29 - "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". I pray that everyone can find peace in knowing that we will see this officer as well as many others again in Paradise soon. Until then, please accept my condolences.

Truck Driver Andrew Bokelman got away with murder for not being charged in the death of Trooper James Sauter. Anyway you slice it, the fault and the blame for that is Illinois States Attorney Anita Alvarez. Two years is not enough. Same in the case with Doug Balder, 3 years is not enough and with Kyle Deatherage, 30 months probation, not enough. Illinois State Troopers lives matter! It's about time somebody starts enforcing laws and justice is served.

Jim, I used to love looking out on the lake seeing you and whatever friend you brought fishing. My boys liked talking with you, my older saying mom I think we are going to be good friends! Little did we know that there wouldn't be time for you to do that with him. I now have your brother fishing my lake, had you parents and wife over for dinner... But I would do anything for YOU to be with them...us. I hope you know how much you are missed...and what a positive influence you've been to so many! Did you see me and matt get soaked out on the lake that day? We both were laughing and blaming you, ya know. Miss you my friend... Miss you so much!!!

Today marks the one year mark brother. Yesterday we dedicated a memorial to you at our training room, etching your name in stone and retiring your squad's license plate. Your family was present at the ceremony. This year has flown by but not a day goes by when someone doesn't think of you. Today we are conducting Operation Sauter state wide. I'd much rather have it be a normal patrol day with you on patrol with us. Please watch over us and know we miss you.

Working adjacent to you was a joy and swapping suggestions on what to invest in was always fun. You mentioned very early on we would be best friends due to our mutual interest in the stock market. I wish you could have spent more time with us. We miss your smile and your jokes dearly. Always thinking of you and what you brought to our team.

Last night, the name "Trooper James Sauter" was read at the Chicago Police Department's Candlelight Vigil at Gold Star Families and Memorial Park. It was read by his good friend Lt. Mark Karczewski. With a beam of blue light pointing into the skies and blue lights illuminating the downtown skyscrapers, Jim's name was called out. Trooper James Sauter will never be forgotten, nor will his family. God Bless all the Sauter family.

As I sit here day by day in school... away from mom.. dad.. liz.. everyone.. your all I think about.. you were more then any little brother could ever ask for and I am blessed more then I even can understand. for the 18 years I had the best gift that no one could take away.. and it was you jimmy.. my big brother.. my teacher.. my guide to success because you did it, you did everything right and I want to be at least as half the man you are. and I can't forget to mention my hero. im going to go through school, do everything right then it'll be you watching over me on the roads. I love you so much and only wish you take care of all of us and keep us safe. I love you big brother, say hi to gramps and uncle john for me and give them a big hug.
