Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Executive Director Thomas Lynn Clements

May God rest his soul!

Charles Rahn, POFC, retired
Orlando Police Dept.

Its that time again to reflect on Toms life and your new lives as this is too close. We are very sorry for your loss Mrs. Clements and Sara & Rachel. I watched the Memorial online as my spouse went to the Funeral. It brought back many memories. We are no longer able to answer our doors without looking out first from afar. All I can say is..... Lord come quickly. The nightmares, the fear in all of us. I too was a widow as another bad guy took my late husband. I will not get into it but it was another cold blooded line of duty. I do take great comfort in that We will see him again someday if you are a Believer. Folks its time to ask yourself if you are ready. I did not say this Jesus did..... that one must be born again to see the Kingdom of God. I'm ready are you? Where will you spend eternity? The time is near. God Bless! <><

A friend and mentor; a gentleman in a profession where that attribute can be rare. He was one of the good guys who always looked out for the people he worked with. I just retired as a deputy warden in the Missouri DOC after 28 years. Tom was our assistant director during my tenure at our facilities in St. Joseph and Boonville, never missed an opportunity to say something positive when we met.

Rest in peace now, sir. We appreciate your years of dedicated service. This hits especillay close to home as I have family that have retired from the Missouri Department of Corrections.

This is yet another reminder of the dastardly deeds of this current generation. Our prayers are with your family, as you enjoy your everlasting reward in Heaven.

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." Matthew 5:9

COPS ON THE WALL

What a haunting thing as cops we do
When that nightmare we have comes true
Somewhere on a playground that they choose
When time stands still as bullets zoom
Who will live, who will die; we both will lose

These Dreams Never go away
Cause another one of us dies each day
Why do these people want to engage
What is it that fuels their rage
Don’t they know it makes me cry
To see them or us without reason die

I see a new name on the wall each week
This job isn’t for the timid or weak
The wall fills up as the year goes by
Each new name makes hundreds cry
New Year comes and another one starts
So many Mothers with broken hearts

The wives and children they don’t understand
Why someone killed Daddy when he made his stand
There’s a thin blue line between good and bad
When the goods guys win we all are glad
Then one of us falls on a call gone bad
We know he gave it all he had
Here’s what makes it all so sad
Another Child without a Dad

Tom was not just the perfect example of professional corrections administrator, he was a true gentleman. This is the quality that I will most remember about him. His mild manner and thoughtful persona is a quality well worth replication. I enjoyed knowing Tom; it's hard digest that I won't be able to shake his hand again. Although Tom was a learned corrections authority, he was continually wanting to learn more. Like everyone else who have crossed Tom's path, I will miss him tremendously.
