Terry, it has been awhile. But I wanted to thank you for all you did at our department. I never met a more selfless man. I remember, when you got out of a patrol car, you kept getting out of a patrol car. Your simple presence controlled so many incidents. And as of today, I wear your belt with nothing more than respect. It maybe a tad too big, but you are still patrolling Sebastian County. We lived in your shadow, and hopefully we will all be as becoming as you. I really don't know what made me come to this site brother, but remember, we all miss you. And we wish you were still here. You were and example for us all.

My deepest condolences to the family, members of the sheriff's office, and those served, at the loss of this deputy. May faith, family, friends and time join together to ease everyone’s pain at this time of loss.

While many other career choices were certainly available, this deputy chose to protect his fellow man, and for this we give everlasting thanks. As the Good Lord hath said, “Blessed are the Peacemakers.”

Thank you for your service, your convictions and moral character, as well as your devotion to duty. May you now rest in peace, knowing your fellow brothers and sisters will watch over your family and continue the Watch!

To the family and friends of Corporal Terry Johnson and his fellow officers:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Terry died.

To Corporal Johnson's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Corporal Johnson gave to his community and the citizens of Arkansas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 2, 2013.

Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such times. I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.
