Reflections for Chief of Police Louis Vandever

Chief, rest in peace always knowing that your service and sacrifice will never, ever be forgotten by your law enforcement brethren and always watch over your great grandson as he continues on with his tour of duty. To your great grandson Trooper Courson, stay safe and stay well always, especially in this very anti-police environment that seems to be ever so popular.

Delaware State Police (Retired)

Chief Louis Vandever is my great grandfather and I could not more proud of his heroic actions. Much to the dismay of my grandmother I chose a career in law enforcement, or more accurately, it chose me. I can't wait to travel to Washington DC and get to see Chief Louis Vandever on the memorial wall, much deserved and long overdue.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 86th anniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
