Not often do you see someone who so wants to serve his community and fellow man that they become not only a firefighter and medic, but they also become a police officer. I respect each and every member of the emergency service community. But to see someone like Officer Tonn, it makes you proud to serve in the same field that he chose to excel in. I would like to extend my most sincere and heartfelt gratitude to not only his family, but also to his friends and especially to his “work family”. We all know that emergency services is the largest “family” we all have with millions of brothers and sisters, and, yes, even a few mothers and fathers, as well! This hurts, plain and simple. We will go on. We will get better. We will remember. But, we will NEVER forget!

May your family and friends one day find comfort and pride in knowing that as others ran from danger to protect themselves, you ran to danger to protect others. A great man once said that to be great, you must first learn to serve, it is apparent that not only did you learn this, you have lived it too. May God grant those near to you peace, in a time where hurt and confusion want center stage.
