I spoke to Mayra several times on the phone for extraditions. Although I never had the pleasure to meet her, she was a very nice person and always a pleasure to talk to. My condolences to her family. May she rest in peace and God give her loved ones the strength to deal with this tragic loss.

It seems we go through life protecting ourselves and others but when our time comes there is nothing that can change it. Greg and 3 of his fellow officers were murdered on a beautiful Sunday morning in a coffee shop. May you all find peace. In Jesus name I pray...

I met Agent Mayra Ramirez-Barreto when she came to NY to do an extradition with our office many years ago, her personality and good manner made it so easy to like her. Her professionalism and how she did her job made it worth while to work wih her. I would joke with her whenever she called our office and I would always asked her to send me some "Sun in a Bag" when the weather was cold in NY. I will miss her dearly, my sympathy goes out to her co-workers and family, may she Rest in Peach.

Always in our heart,

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

I have laid down my life in service to all of you.
I have been a part of the fabric that has held the line between your safety and your victimization. I have given my life so that others may live in peace. I have lived my life as a dedicated member of the greatest profession. There is no greater honor.

As I now become a part of the rich history of law enforcement, please remember me always for I have left behind those who loved and depended upon me.
My partners and my agency, please remember my family, their loss, and don’t let time soften your compassion for them.

You guard the gate now and I will continue my watch from above.

MAY YOU REST IN PEACE AND MAY YOUR FAMILY FIND COMFORT IN THE GOOD YOU HAVE DONE HERE ON EARTH.
