Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Chris Yung

Our condolences go out to the family and co-workers of Officer Chris Yung. May the presence of God guide you through this extremely difficult time. Chris may you rest in peace. God bless...

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell.

Rest well my brother.

Well where do I start....Chris you were such a great friend and brother to me, we went through 6 months in the academy together and you always managed to make the class laugh, from letting everyone test drive your fancy cars to jumping through the window on that course like a ninja....I still cant figure out how you did that. You always took the time to stop and say hello. You were a wonderful father and always put your children first. I just want to let you know that you will always be in our hearts and you were a great brother to all of us on the department. We will all now step up to the plate and make sure that your family is well taken care of. I love you....rest in peace.

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.
