Lord’s promise to a Horseman

You can rest; your duty done.
You can enjoy the warmth of the sun on your face as you make your last ride.
The rattle of your saber now still.

You can lighten your burden;
Lay down your weapons and cause, for someone else to take up.
Your old spurs are not needed because there is no hurry;
There are no more battles to win.
You can lie down and rest while your horse grazes in the green grass.

The Standard you have so proudly carried now serves as a blanket and protects your sleep.
You can take off you boots and lay your head on your saddle.
No guard need posted for I will watch over you.
Only one bugle call remains.

In my house you will wake, well rested, renewed
And answer the roll, “Here Sir”
You will take up a winged horse and with my mighty sword spend your days making holes in the clouds.
So the rays of the sun wake the young foals in the pasture that warm the hearts of those who carry your memory forever.

Knox County Sheriff's Office, Knoxville, TN

Detective Thomas, Rest well in the presence of God.

To Your Family,

Feel His presence as God answers the prayers of many who have fallen to their knees on your behalf. Since the day of my son's death, I have carried every law enforcement officer and their family in my heart.

Every morning I go to my knees. During that time I pray, “Lord, Be with all law enforcement officers. Keep them safe and free from harm. They are your soldiers on the front line of the battle against evil. If one should fall this day - wrap their family in your loving arms. Surround them with loving, caring people to comfort them. Ease their pain. Help them to mourn well. In Jesus' name, Amen”

I have lifted you and your family to God every morning for 22 months. Feel those prayers. God is with you, He knows and will ease your pain.
