Reflections for Police Officer Sean Louis Callahan

Sean, we honor your service to your community as a law enforcement officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Sean was killed in the line of duty. May his loved ones continue to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To his family, you are in my heart's embrace today. I pray for the emotional healing for all who called Sean beloved.

I was so saddened to learn of the loss of this young officer just starting his law enforcement career and know what a devastating blow his loss is to his family and his agency.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Officer Callahan gave to his community and the citizens of Georgia, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 18, 2012.

Once again, here in Georgia, we have lost another of our Hero's. We all had hope that this young, courageous officer would survive this cowardly attempt on his life. Sadly, that was not to be. Thank you, Officer Callahan, for your bravery and dedication to the citizens of Georgia and Clayton County. God Bless and Godspeed.

My deepest condolences to the family, friends and everybody who respected what Officer Callahan did.

I thank you for you courage brother. Your dedication should be an inspiration to all of us, you stared evil in the eye and never backed down. It is and will always be an honor to know we walked the same thin blue line.

R.I.P. brother Sean, till we meet again, we'll take it from here.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Sean - I've been a cop longer than you got to live. I'm so sorry you're gone. More sorry, since you were one of our brothers on the Officer.com forums. No doubt you showed more courage in those last minutes of your life than many of us will ever have to summon up in decades of service. You are our hero and our inspiration to keep suiting up and showing up when the call goes out.

Thank you for your service to the people of Georgia and Clayton County. May God grant you eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
