To Officer Lang and her loved ones:

Please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

My heart goes out to your family. You’re in our thoughts and our prayers.

Officer Lang, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Officer Lang.

Being a detention officer at the hinds county sheriffs dept(ms) I chose this profession fully knowing the danger of this career. Knowing this im still willing to make it to patrol someday. What officer lang did was heroic, and I wear this uniform with pride. My heart goes out to the lang family as well as the memphis pd.

I couldn't help but notice that the time of Officer Lang's incident and the incident at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut were so close together that Friday morning. We never know why things happen the way they do on this Earth. Nobody knows why God calls us home exactly when He does, but on that Friday morning He needed a police officer up there. Looking at the time those incidents occurred, I feel confident in one thing: There was a Memphis Police officer standing at the gates of Heaven helping those 20 terrified children find their way through those gates to peace and safety.

Help keep watch over us here as you patrol those streets of gold!!
