I am so sorry dear family of Tom Decker that your husband and father was taken away from you by a person who hated the world. My husband and I understand the grief that you are going through. Our daughter, Officer Tina (DeLong) Griswold was shot down on November 29, 2009, along with her fellow officers Mark Renninger, Greg Richards, and Ronnie Owens at the Forza Coffee Shop in Lakewood, Washington. If I could take some of your pain, I would. Please know that I will be praying for you and your family. I hope that you will feel the love and compassion when you read this sometime in the future. May God watch over you and strengthen you.

My condolences to family, friends, acquaintances and everyone touched by this loss. The loss of any life so young is never easy to accept; we may question an accident or medical condition that deprives us of a future with a loved one. The circumstances such as this tragedy will haunt all of us for quite some time. May your faith in the Master Weaver's plan carry you through the hard times. In the meantime I hope you find some comfort in this prayer that has sustained my faith during my most trying times when grief was most difficult.

May God bless and keep you.
May God's face shine on you.
May God be kind to you and give you peace.

Especially for John and Sally,
Officer Tom Decker will always be in the hearts of anyone who has ever been blessed to have met him.

For Police Officer Tom Decker:

The response to a call for one who is bent on taking his own life is to confront one who will kill. No amount of preparation can truly eliminate the risk to the officer upon arrival. We regret that our brother Tom would be the next officer to die at the hand of one who is mentally unstable.
We pray for Tom's family, friends, coworkers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.
We are proud to render Officer Tom Decker, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: For thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
