Deatherage you will be sorely missed brother! I wish you could see how far reaching your passing is....It's always terribly tragic to lose a warrior, but losing one as memorable as you is even more so bro. May God watch over and protect your family, and give them strength.......

I was in my driveway getting ready to go 10-41 yesterday when I read the message on my MDC that we lost you. I was in shock and the first emotion I had was was laughter and a big old smile on my face as I remembered our time together in the academy.

You were driving us in the van back to the academy from some training and we all knew we had a big smoking waiting for us when we got back. You had us all laughing so hard our sides hurt when you were yelling at us like a school bus driver who couldn't control his 1st grade passengers.

You always had a way of helping us get through the stress and emotions of the academy with your sense of humor. I promise you this, we will take care of your family for you because I know that's what you are worrying about up there.

I've admired you since the first day we met. We miss you, bro.

Wow Kyle, I cant believe youre gone..the day before you died I just heard you voice on the radio as you stopped to check on crash I was en route to help with...I am thankful for the time I had with you and miss you--the cups of coffee at QT and calls we shared when you worked with MADCO, the excitment when you told me you made it to ISP, the time I messed with you when you were Cadet in the academy, once you graduated on mids the visits at the district 18/11 line on 55 always trying to talk me into using my "pull' (yeah right) to get you into Dist 11 because you couldnt bear being far from your family,, your body may be gone, but your legacy will not be. I know you loved God, your family, and your job and the people you served, that is your testimony that will not die. Jesus has welcomed you into his arms "Well done, my good and faithfull servant." I miss you buddy...but not for long.

Tpr Deatherage,

My family will remember you as a hard working man who did what was best to provide for his family. Today, I showed my little Emmy your picture and she cried with sadness. I explained to her that you will be in the moon to join our loved ones and that you will be watching over your wife and children. You will be missed.

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."
