I am sitting in a basic police officer training academy right now. I am begining week 10 at the Vermont Police Academy. Every night we read a memorial from the ODMP. This story has not only inspired me to be better but reasured me that I am here for the right reason. I hear many tragic stories of officers being killed in the line of duty. This one has stuck out to me and is one that I will carry with me forever. A tragic event where an officer lost his life will guide me and possibly save my life. Jim Davies Thank you for your service.

I only knew Agent Davies from working security at an apartment complex in Lakewood. He was a true example of the fine work and staff of the Lakewood Police Department. He was a true professional that never quit working. Jim may god bless your sole. To Jim's family may god give you peace and comfort knowing that not only was Jim a great Police Agent but a good man. As a former member of the Lakewood Police Department, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences to the family of Agent Davies and to the entire Lakewood Police Department on this tragic loss. I can only imagine the depth of pain felt by everyone associated with James, his family and the entire department.

Law Enforcement, in this country, is a noble profession - a vocation - a calling - not simply a job. From everything I have heard, James upheld that nobility and found personal satisfaction in his chosen vocation.

Having made the ultimate sacrifice, James will "...not be remembered for how he died, but for how he lived."

My prayers are with those left behind.

God didn’t promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain; but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way.

Rest in peace.
