Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Edgar Ivan Cooke

Edgar Ivan Cook was my paternal great grand uncle. He was my mom's dad's uncle. I had heard the name before but never knew he was an officer killed in the line of duty. Thank you for your service uncle!

Deputy Ivan Cooke,
My great uncle, Herbert Wilson, was the man who fired the fatal shots that extinguished your life at a young age. I offer my utmost sorrow and condolences to your family as my Great Grandmother and my Grandmother offered them to your wife and children back in the day. I thank you for your services to the citizens of Union County, TN.

Sincerely,
Joe Moore

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 60th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.
