My sadness is overwhelming..I had spoken with my girlfriend last night and we were discussing the 71 officers felled this year...and now 72. 1 single officer is too many. The streets do not love you back. We need to pray for the men and women who protect us. I am an ex-police officer and have attended the funerals of 8 very close brothers most of whom were killed in the 70s...and all by gunfire. We cannot give enough praise, nor express enough thanks. My prayers are to the family and friends, and colleagues of Corporal Bailey

Trooper M.L Bailey was a dedicated officer, father, son, brother & friend!! I truly can't imagine this world without him. He saved my life when I was only 18yrs old & from that day forth not only did he become 1 of my dearest friends, but has always been one my Greatest Heroes!! My thoughts & Prayers are with his family & I hope his children know what an incredible man & definitely one of WV's finest. I will never forget you & everything you have done for me, my heart like many weighs very heavy, but I know you left this world doing what you loved doing..protecting us all from the evil of the world. Forever in my heart & absolutely NEVER forgotten!! Thank You!!

Cpl Bailey was kind and fun loving. He always answered the phone with some witty remark and was fast with a light hearted joke. He was stolen from us far too soon. If there is a heaven they got a darn fine officer and gentleman.
