We knew Brandon was an amazing person and a loving son. He deeply touched our lives, but we never realized how much he had touched others. Now, he is everyone’s hero and guardian angel.

Thank you for your kind words, your prayers, and warm embrace. We are forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support received by his family.

Thank you.

My brother,
It is a tragedy that something like this happened, especially to you and Jeremy Triche. Even though I did not know Jeremy, I know you, and the fact that you loved what you did in your job.

I am so honored to be your sister, and I am so honored to call you my brother. I miss you more and more each and everyday, and I made that promise to you that I will always take care of my sis n law and the kids, and I will.

I know you are with the angels and the Lord above, and you are watching over all of us, and I am so happy that you are my daughters Uncle and she will always remember you.

Brandon, I love you and may you rest in peace!

People are talking about how much you loved to carry out motorcycle escorts for everything from weddings to presidential. Well, you escorted my wedding on August 11, 2012 and it was one of the last things you did as a deputy. I remember you talking to my Uncle Michael, a fellow deputy, while laughing and smiling. I look back and am so glad my husband, active duty Navy, and I, hugged you and thanked you for your part in our wedding day. That's how we will remember you...being happy at your job and loving to protect and serve. The moment Will learned that one of the fallen was you, he rushed to donate blood for your fellow deputies recovering in the hospital. My new husband and I were absolutely honored to have you escort us and you will always be in our hearts.

This morning while I cried and watched your funeral procession before going to work, I stopped at the Chevron by I-10 E. The cashier told me about how you always went see her for your shifts and bought a Coke Zero. There we were...two complete strangers talking about our memories of you and celebrating your life. It was an incredible moment.

I pray that you RIP with God and I know He will have his arms wrapped around your families, friends, and St. John the Baptist Parish as we all grieve.

We love you Brandon.

The Thin Blue Line it will never bend and impossible to break, our commitment to honor it can't ever be shaken. It's true if you hurt one we all feel it and if we lose one it takes a piece of us all. The line isn't a person, place or thing, it's the heart and soul of every man and woman that put on a law enforcement uniform and take that oath to serve with honor and to protect sometimes at cost. "Air Clear 10-8 In Service Deputies B. Nielsen & J. Triche we're eternally on patrol at large". Thank you for your service my brothers, Deputy J. Taylor JPSO

My husband is a motor officer in Bossier Parish, LA. This horrible situation makes me reflect on how precious life is and how brave each officer is. Each time he/she walks out the door they're a target. My husband is on his way to St. John the Baptist Parish with a fellow motor officer to honor Dep Nielsen and represent the BSO. God Bless them and the family/friends of Dep Nielsen and Dep Triche. Please know you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Brandon I will miss the fact each and every time we would pass one another on a stop we would always stop and talk for a few minutes after finishing our business.

God full of mercy who dwells on high
Grant perfect rest on the wings of Your Divine Presence
In the lofty heights of the holy and pure

to the soul of Brandon Nelson
who has gone to his eternal rest.

His resting place shall be in the Garden of Eden
Therefore; the Master of mercy will care for him
under the protection of His wings for all time
And bind his soul in the bond of everlasting life.
