His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Rest in Peace Constable Bachmann, may God watch over your family. I know that my Great-Great Uncle Marcellus R. (“Pet”) Millican, Constable, Brazos County, Pct 1 who ended his watch on December 14, 1889 was at those pearly gates to welcome you home. God Bless.

I attended the funeral for Constable Bachmann as part of the GPPD Honor Guard. I was so very moved in the way he was remembered as a kind, warmhearted family and Godly man. What touched me the most was that one of his ministers said that the day he was killed, yes Brian was there to serve eviction papers but that was only part of it. There is no doubt in the pastor's mind that he was also there to try and find that man another place to live. That was the kind of giving spirit that Brian was. There is a huge void to fill now in Brazos County. May Brian rest in Heaven's eternal peace in the presence of Almighty God.

God full of mercy who dwells on high
Grant perfect rest on the wings of Your Divine Presence
In the lofty heights of the holy and pure
who shine as the brightness of the heavens
to the soul of Brian Bachmann
who has gone to his eternal rest.

His resting place shall be in the Garden of Eden
Therefore; the Master of mercy will care for him
under the protection of His wings for all time
And bind his soul in the bond of everlasting life.
God is his inheritance and he will rest in peace
and let us say AMEN.

It was such an honor to be able to escort another fallen hero’s family, (Constable Kevin Aigner), to share in the grief of this hero’s funeral.

To personally witness the fraternity of first responders is always a proud and painful at these types of events. But the TRUE care and compassion it offers the families of these too often unsung heroes is simply outstanding. I think it is how these families are able to find the strength to help us useless civilians through the pain during this kind of loss.

Constable Bachmann will always be held in high regard in our family, as our middle child, had been interning with Precinct 1 all summer, and quite literally, she should be dead along side him that day. But for the grace of God, it was the one time she just didn’t go along with him –and when asked why since they had all just had lunch together, she just shakes her head & whispers, “I don’t know.” Well, I know: Constable Bachmann was a man of God and although it can’t be scientifically shown, I like to think he and God were in league with keeping our child alive that day.

So while we grieve always for this senseless loss, we praise God that our child was so blessed to work with and learn from and ultimately be saved by this fallen hero.

God bless ALL the families that suffer this loss and may we as mere civilians come together and make laws & policies & raise kids that protect those who protect and serve our communities.

To whom it may concern,

I wish to extend my sincerest condolences to family, loved ones, and fellow law enforcement officers of Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann. He is a hero in every sense of the word. May they find peace and healing as soon as humanly possible and know that they are not alone in their grief and outrage. There simply are no words that can adequately convey my sense of outrage and grief at such senseless brutality.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Brian’s wife Donna, his children, Mr. and Mrs. Bachmann, and his brother and sister. Also, my sympathy to his fellow officers whom he worked with in Brazos county. Brian was a kind man with a huge heart who loved his family and his work. I was Brian’s next door neighbor during his high school years, his classmate, but most of all he was a good friend. He always kept in touch over the years and even sent my children replicas of his police car in Brazos county. I will miss you Brian and you will never be forgotten. Rest in peace.
